Deputy Foreign Minister Mr. Mahmud Mammad-Guliyev met with Mrs. Krystyna Marty-Lang
On March 20, 2018, Mr. Mahmud Mammad-Guliyev, Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan paid a visit to Switzerland to take part in high-level consultations between the two countries.
The Azerbaijani delegation, featuring also Mrs. Hanum Ibrahimova, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to the Swiss Confederation was received by the Swiss delegation headed by Mrs. Krystyna Marty-Lang, Deputy State Secretary of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs. During the meeting, the sides analysed the current state of affairs in bilateral relations and exchanged views on prospects for cooperation. Both sides praised close relations existing between Switzerland and Azerbaijan, as well as cooperation at Bretton Woods Institutions and expressed their mutual interest in further developing the relations in various fields. While appreciating strong economic ties and mutual investments, including activities of Holcim and Stadler Rail in Azerbaijan and SOCAR in Switzerland, the sides agreed that there is a room for strengthening trade relations.
The sides have also exchanged views on the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, illegal activities on the occupied territories of Azerbaijan, support of Switzerland to economic reforms carried out in Azerbaijan, participation of Swiss companies in regional energy and transport projects, activity of the Joint Economic and Trade Commission between the two countries, issues pertaining to human rights protection in Azerbaijan, cooperation between the countries in international organizations, Azerbaijan’s cooperation with the European Union and its relations with neighbouring countries.
